The next Vancouver Postcard Club meeting will be Sunday, January 14, 2018. Doors open at 11:30 am for trading, with the presentation beginning shortly after noon, and the meeting wrapping up by 2 pm.
NOTE: Room change! This month, our meeting room will be the JAMES CORK ROOM, not our ordinary board room. Ask a community centre employee if you need assistance finding the room.
Our January meeting will feature the scrapbooks assembled by Vancouver Postcard Club executive member, Jason Vanderhill. Jason has been assembling WWII ephemera over the past few years as his own WWII family history was rediscovered in greater detail, and he has taken a renewed interest in the impacts of the war on the city of Vancouver. Furthermore, a generous donation from the estate of Patrick Bush (son of George William Trayton Bush) has helped in rekindling this area of research. G.W.T. Bush was an early CPR employee, a WWI veteran, and an auxiliary VPD policeman who worked as an ARP Warden for District 7, Division D (based at Lord Tennyson School in the Kitsilano neighbourhood). Over the last year, Jason has been blogging WWII on Instagram over at @VanWartime. Follow along!
All interested in postcards and our local and national history are welcome to attend.
